Human Sexuality

This workshop will give participants information about the spectrum of sex and sexuality and how it relates to client health, as well as an opportunity to identify personal values that may conflict with clients’ values about sexuality.

Participants will be able to use this information to improve communication with their clients about sexual health and sexual problems.

Objectives

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify values and beliefs about sex and sexuality.
  • Define terms that are commonly used when talking about sex and sexuality.
  • Discuss how sex and sexuality impact the health and well-being of clients of family planning clinics.
  • Discuss how to help people with sexual problems or concerns.

Audience

This workshop is designed for any family planning clinic or program staff responsible for working with clients:

  • Nurse Practitioners
  • Medical Assistants
  • Nurses (LVNs & RNs)
  • Health Educators
  • Community Health Workers
  • Other interested program staff

Continuing Education

There is an additional $15.00 administration fee, per certificate, payable on site.

Nurses

Provider approved by California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #CEP 12241, for 6.5 contact hours.

Health Educators

The California Family Health Council is designated as a provider of Category I continuing education contact hours in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. Health educators attending this program may report up to 5.5 contact hours.

Social Workers

The California Family Health Council, Inc., provider number 3165, is an approved provider of continuing education for MFT and LCSW licensure requirements in California . This course meets the qualifications for 5.5 hours of continuing education credit for MFCCs and LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
